The People of Maui are being Used by the Media
Musings from the neighboring Big Island of Hawaii
I’m spending most of the summer here on the Big Island. It’s the part of the States that the American in me calls home when I’m not residing in London as a naturalized Brit. By now, news of the tragic fire on neighboring Maui will be known to virtually everyone. What happened in Lahaina is indeed a tragedy and my heart goes out to all who have been impacted by destruction and loss of life. Having said that, the global attention the media has seemingly given this event has been a sight to behold.
I say seemingly, because I no longer “consume” any mainstream media and have not done so for a few years now. Instead, I mostly read books. Lots of ‘em. As a conspiracy realist, I do keep tabs on corporate media from a safe distance, usually through various independent media sources, and of course word of mouth, so that I know what the latest “approved” narratives are as well as which way the propaganda winds of power are blowing. Suffice it to say, I deliberately miss much of the play-by-play and I believe I’m much freer, healthier, and happier for it.
With that disclosure made, readers can perhaps understand how within the first 24 hours following the Lahaina catastrophe friends from all over the world - the UK, Europe, India and the Far East all knew more about the particulars of the tragedy than I did, and they still do. I know the broad strokes and that’s more than sufficient. In fact, I was on an unrelated call with a large group of international participants from all of the above referenced regions and it was palpably obvious that they had all been treated to wall-to-wall coverage of Maui, with many deeply moved by it. I’m sure, being here on Hawaii, I must have seemed aloof and insensitive to many of them, but I can assure you that the latter at least is not the case.
It’s quite something to see how people everywhere were so gripped by the event at least in its immediate aftermath, despite being so remote from it. In making that observation, I don’t discount at all that part of the reason for this is born out of good people expressing their compassion and humanity in a time of crisis for those in a far off land. But there is also another reason and it’s that the media and those who control it are manipulating them for the sake of ulterior motives, like they always do.
Yes, the media selectively chose the Maui tragedy over others and it was the media that decided to give it wall-to-wall coverage on an international if not global scale. The media does this every chance it gets. It is always on the look out for the next “big story”, which it can use and exploit to the fullest.
With that, my thoughts shift to all the “eyeballs” that a powerful few can grab and the attention they can soak up from the global public at large through their (consolidated) media platforms such that hundreds of millions, if not billions of people around the world will give not just minutes, but possibly hours of their attention, not to mention their emotions, to something which while acutely tragic was / is a relatively small tragedy in the grand scheme of things that took place on a far off island; and one which many of them had never heard of before. That’s power!
Again, without wanting to diminish the seriousness of the tragedy in any way, my line of argument is more that the Lahaina tragedy is relatively small compared with say the true price that innocent Ukrainians are paying as a result of not just one renegade government, but at least three. Then, of course, there are still any number of unfolding tragedies playing out in the Middle East as a result of the War of on Terror. And what of the massive increases in excess mortality, not to mention sudden deaths, including in our otherwise young and healthy demographics that have occurred and are continuing to unfold around the world since the roll-out of the Covid injections? Government data clearly indicate something like a holocaust is underway. It’s in plain sight. But, of course, our politicians and the propaganda media are silent on this point, just as they are on the additional 3 million or so people in the United States alone that are now on disability, again within a timeframe that aligns very closely with you know what. So, I am not trivializing Maui, I am simply trying to put it into perspective and to suggest that the coverage we are being treated to (IMO, at Maui’s expense) has another purpose.
What do all the other stories and crises I referred to above have in common? The fingerprints of multiple governments, large corporations, alphabet agencies, and billionaire psychopaths are all over them; and it is these very same people and forces that own and control the media. If the media can be used as a tool to grab and hold a significant portion of the world’s attention for a tragic but local event in a remote island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, even for just a few days, that’s not just power, it’s awesome power.
Hopefully, as noted earlier, the point is not lost that the media is always looking for such opportunities to exploit and sensationalize. Furthermore, with permission and in cooperation with their overlords, the media will not hesitate to manufacture crises outright or at least blow them out of all proportion for their own cynical gain and or as part of someone else’s bigger, yet undisclosed agenda - Covid-19, depopulation, and global totalitarian control, anyone?
We were direct victims of this phenomenon of the global media here on the Big Island in May of 2018. That was when our Kiluea volcano opened another vent, causing lava eruptions in areas where they don’t normally occur. To be sure, the powerful nature on display was a sight to behold, and it made for great footage for the mainstream media to have its way with. By the time most of the damage was done, the stats were something like this: 1,800 residents had evacuated their homes and about 35 structures and 104 acres of land had been destroyed. Now, to provide some context, which the media kept largely silent on: a) there were no fatalities, b) Kiluea is erupting all the time, or at least it has been doing so almost constantly for around 40 years, c) the 104 acres were sparsely populated, with much of the land completely unused, and d) the Big Island has over 120,000 people on it, 99% of whom were never in any conceivable danger, and the total island constitutes a land mass in excess 10,450 square kilometers, which translates to about 2,573,400 acres.
And yet, if you went by the super highly sensationalized media coverage, and sadly, many people did, you could be forgiven for having believed that Armageddon had struck and that there was no place on the island that was safe. Not only did the media never temper or correct its sensationalized reporting, when the second vent eventually closed, returning everything back to normal, the media response was “crickets”. As a result of their wilfully irresponsible coverage, the propaganda mainstream media did far more damage to the Big Island than the volcano did, because it effectively destroyed the economy for around 18 months. It goes without saying that this was completely unnecessary. So, yes, even here on the Big Island, we have some direct experience with how the global media behaves. In essence, we were used, much like the good people of Maui and the memories of those lost are being used now.
The media’s primary function is to create a never ceasing conveyor belt of sensationalized stories that are designed to make big money by grabbing our attention beyond all proportion, thereby distracting us from much bigger things that we’re not meant to see or to spend too much time contemplating. In essence, this is part, and by no means all of how we are manipulated into positions of helplessness, apathy, and ignorance by the masters of our governments and their media, while they go about perpetrating their agendas. As stated earlier, I don’t play the media game anymore and I am far better off for it. I would urge anyone to consider emulating this and see the results for themselves. Ditto of course for TV and anything that comes out of the greater Hollywood machine, but that’s for a different post someday.
In closing, I return to the local tragedy on Maui. Here below is just one of the photos. I’m sure many of you have seen them all and I imagine that they and the widespread coverage impacted you, as it was meant to do. How could it not? But beyond that, what else did that coverage achieve other than cynical the things I’ve already mentioned in this post? Did it achieve anything good? Do you think the media, that without a doubt made millions of dollars off of getting millions of people gasp at those photos and their coverage, donated much of any of these proceeds to the people of Maui? I very much doubt it. Did you donate as a result of the coverage? If not, then at some point, is it not worth asking what exactly we are participating in and whether it is anything more than commercialized voyeurism of other people’s misery?
And what of our government? Don’t they purport to care about public health and don’t they behave as though OUR money grows on trees, is unlimited, and can be used by them in anyway they see fit? Will they help the good people of Maui to anything like the degree that’s needed given that they are entirely capable of doing so, or will it be another version of East Palestine, Ohio, except this time one where their billionaire masters and donors soon swoop in and buy up prime real-estate for pennies on the dollar. We know the answers here, right?
There was not time or space in this post to go into the question of possible foul-play on Maui, and doing so could only ever have been mere conjecture on my part, so I didn’t. However, I will say that I am certainly of the opinion that eco-terrorism played a part in the Canadian fires earlier this year, as well as fires in recent years in California and Australia. These acts of terror and mass destruction are designed to fool people into believing that the world is instantaneously combusting before our very eyes due to global warming, even though the science doesn’t support this for a second. Okay, “the science” might support it, but actual science does not. Of course, the media is all too happy to “do its job” for its masters and propagate that narrative, too.
As for who is responsible for these eco-terrorist acts, your guess is as good as mine. In any event, I’m not permitted to speculate, because Joe Biden and Homeland Security have made it clear that any Americans who question the US government too closely are asking for trouble, so I’ll refrain.
Whether Lahaina was a natural disaster or not, the people of Maui are being used, and the same question still looms large:
“Cui bono?”
A very powerful piece, thank you. l don’t watch the news so it’s only now l realise how devastating it is, but then anything instigated normally is! My heart goes out to the people who have lost everything. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Exactly!!
